Stephen Brown, MDStephen Brown
Managing Director

Previously founder and Managing Director of Security Risk Management Limited Stephen’s working career began in 1987 as a IT Security software engineer within HM Government where he worked with various government agencies including police and military. He is a security specialist in computer fraud analysis, database design & development and security incident management. Later he became a trained computer forensic specialist working closely with different law enforcement agencies including the Police, specifically investigating fraud.

In 1997 Stephen moved to the private industry to increase his business skills and joined an industry leading airline becoming Information Security Manager. In 2000 Stephen moved to the Group as Head of Group Information Security applying his skills to improving and protecting information assets this including associated companies. In 2002 Stephen became founder and CEO of Security Risk Management Limited growing it into a successful Information Security company. Stephen then decided to concentrate his skills ensuring Staffvetting.com becomes the leading quality background screening company in the UK by merging best quality procedures, technology and the latest industry best practices delivering  the highest standards to our customers.

Julie Franks
Director

In 1990 Julie joined The Milk Marketing Board being responsible for monthly budget updates and forecasts, expense account reconciliations of the Sales Team and organising Government departmental visits with overseas buyers. In January 2012 she joined Staffvetting.com full time as Operations and Finance Director. Along with the day to day financial responsibilities of the company is now involved with client liaison, establishing service level agreements with our existing clients and assisting with the sales/marketing activities to extend our client base.

Julie has been connected to Staffvetting.com and the original company SRM for the past eight years. Julie’s working career (in between having three children) began in 1987 working in the financial industry for Citibank and then the Australian Mutual Provident Society (AMP). Her tasks included carrying out credit reference checks on applicants, maintaining financial reconciliation on mortgage accounts whilst being responsible for the payment of tax to the NSW State Government. Julie has gained extensive experience in the background screening arena and has an in-depth knowledge base of Staffvetting’s service portfolio able to assist each Client with their unique requirements.

 

 

David RipperDavid Ripper
Non-Executive Director

Managing Director of Secure Matters Limited one of the UK’s leading providers of secure electronic transfer systems for sensitive data. David’s career started in 1991 as an IT engineer, he quickly took on additional responsibilities until he was managing all of the technology requirements, including product development, for a fast growing UK software company.

In 2003 David joined Sue Ryder Care becoming Head of Information Systems and Technology creating a national ICT infrastructure and IT service for over 400 sites. Negotiated a number of managed service contracts and contracts for the provision of “cloud” services. David originally worked in software development managing the creation of software products for commercial release.
Led the successful management of a programme of changes brought about by the introduction of new information systems leading Sue Ryder into the 21st Century.

In 2013 David made the decision to go freelance and it was while he was working with his new clients that he made the decision to setup Secure Matters to address a need that existed in many of the organisations that he had worked with. The first service available from Secure Matters is a file transfer service that enables organisations to securely transfer files simply and quickly to other organisations and individuals.
